Play Money

I originally began creating printable play money for this site, thinking that I might some day invent a game (based on the fictional country of Esperantujo), something like Parker Brothers’ Monopoly®.  Later, I designed such a game, “Monopolo Esperantuja”, which you can print out and play, and as it turns out, it’s a Monopoly® variant.  The street names and other game items have been changed to protect the innocent.  I hope to invent more such games in the future, and would like to see others do the same.

There a few different styles of bills here, created over time as I thought of better designs, with variations of each design.  For the most part, you can print out each denomination separately (and I would recommend a different color of paper for each), but you can also print out all ten denominations on one sheet, either in black, or in color.  Some styles of notes are the same size for each denomination, like American money; some have varying sizes, with lengths that increase as the values increase, like euro notes; and some styles have both.

Due to an extreme excess of cuteness on my part, these bills all have serial numbers generated randomly, so if you print any one screen multiple times, print the several copies individually, pressing the “refresh” key [F5] between copies, so the serial numbers don’t repeat.

Most of these styles require the use of fonts that you probably don’t have on your computer, so I have placed them here in a downloadable form.  I assume that you have Microsoft’s Cooper Black and Webdings available to you.

Instructions

  1. Download any required font files.
  2. Double-click the downloaded font files to temporarily install them.
  3. Set the margins on the printer to their minimum values. These files will then print on either size 8½ × 11 or size DIN-A4 paper.
  4. Set the printer to print vertically.
  5. Some styles allow you to choose whether to print uniform or varying sizes.
  6. Some styles allow you to choose to print in color, or in black.
  7. Print the sheets as many times as desired, refreshing between copies if necessary.
  8. Cut the bills apart with a paper-cutter (or very carefully with scissors).
